Treatment Approaches:
A number of evidenced based therapeutic techniques are drawn upon to deliver the most appropriate treatment for the client.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT
CBT is a short term, goal-oritented psychotherapy that examines the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. CBT works by identifying and addressing unhelpful thinking patterns or styles that underlie unhappiness or dysfunction.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is a cognitive based approach that focuses on acceptance of self, while at the same time trying to change unhelpful behaviours. It is particularly suited to people experiencing difficulty managing emotions.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy IPT
Interpersonal therapy focuses on the importance of relationships with others and the impact they can have on our sense of well-being. IPT focuses on repairing, restoring and strengthening the relationships that are significant to our mental health and well-being. ??
Schema Therapy
Schema Therapy is an integrative approach to treating life-long, self-defeating patterns called maladaptive schemas which are typically developed in childhood. The core goal of Schema Therapy is for the client to learn how to have their emotional needs met in positive ways by healing and replacing maladaptive schemas.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the art of learning to pay attention to the present moment. It is the practice of staying grounded in the present moment rather than being distracted by our stream of thoughts. By practicing mindfulness we can gradually learn to let go of unhelpful thoughts and feelings, reduce stress, and engage more fully in life.
